Your weight or body mass index may be normal, but still you may have noticed that you have a little enlarged abdomen.
So is it normal?
Some of these people also having normal BMI, but see their waist measurement. I’ll discuss that in a minute. Waist measure reflects total, abdominal and visceral fat.
And also waist size is a clue to whether you’re at high risk for type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure,
high cholesterol, and heart disease.
Or in other words you at the initialstage of developing those diseases (metabolic syndrome), if it is above the normal.
Tape measure is used to measure your waist circumference.
Start at the top of your hip bone, then bring the tape measure all the way around, level with your umbilicus/belly button.
Don’t hold your breath while measuring.
Make sure it’s not too tight and that it’s straight.
For your best health, your waist should measure no more than 90cm for men, 80cm for women (for Asians). If it’s larger than that, it is important to seek a medical advice to loose your weight.
